The President of the hockey club "Donbass" Boris Kolesnikov in an interview with the newspaper "Segodnya" commented on the situation relating to the submission of an application of the club to join the Kontinental Hockey League.
"Let us not rush with that. Let them accept our application - and then I will comment on everything. According to the regulations, we must make a formal application to join before April 30, but we will submit it as early as next week. And I think that everything should be solved satisfactorily, because from our side will be given all the necessary guarantees. Of all those claims, that were put forward by KHL, there are almost no unrealistic things. Actually, the only sticking point now - is lack of capacity of our Ice Arena (Donetsk "Druzhba" can accept a little more than four thousand people). Therefore, we will build a new one. How long will it take? If we should be optimistic, to design and to build an arena, it can take a 2,5-3 years. For now, sketch and design works are performing. The place where the ice rink will be built, has already been defined. But about this and about future capacity of the arena, we will be able to talk, when the sketch will be ready".
