Július Šupler - head coach of the first team of HC "Donbass"

On Monday, April 23, during a press conference on summing up speech of the teams of the club for the last season, the President of the hockey club "Donbass", Boris Kolesnikov introduced a new head coach of the first team. Good known Slovak specialist it was appointed - Július Šupler, who had previously worked with famous clubs "Lokomotiv" (Yaroslavl), "Dynamo" (Minsk), CSKA (Moscow), etc.

Biographical notes:

- Hockey career began in the HC "Lokomotiv Vagonka", Poprad. Later played for the club "Partizan Liptovský Mikuláš", Slovakia, "Slovan", Slovakia, "Košice", Slovakia. Finished his playing career in 26 years.

- Coaching career began in 1979 in his native Poprad. In the early 1990s, working with "Dukla" from Trenčín, Šupler was voted twice as the best coach of Czechoslovakia. After the independence of Slovakia led the national team. Spent several seasons in one of the strongest junior leagues in the world - WHL. After returning to Europe he worked with such renowned clubs as "Sparta" (Prague), "Slovan" (Bratislava), "Lokomotiv" (Yaroslavl). Šuplers name associated with the best seasons of the club "Riga 2000", which was subsequently disbanded.

- Once again Július Šupler was appointed as the head coach of Slovakia team from 2006 to 2008. After the revival of the "Dinamo" Riga in 2008 Šupler became its coach. November 18, 2010, at a meeting of the Riga City Council, Šupler was named Rigan of the year for his contribution to shaping a positive image of the city of Riga abroad.
